Renewable Gas Guarantees of Origin (RGGOs) are designed to encourage the supply of low-carbon energy.

These certificates are issued by the Green Gas Certification Scheme to biomethane producers for each kWh produced. This is to verify that gas is produced from environmentally friendly sources and to document information about its origin, such as where, when and how it was produced.

Renewable Gas Guarantees of Origin (RGGOs) can be sold on either alongside the gas or traded separately. Anyone involved in the green gas supply chain can participate in the Green Gas Certification Scheme. The main actors are green gas producers who register the output they’ve injected to the grid, suppliers and RGGOs traders.
