The four governments of the UK have launched the UK ETS, thus, increasing the climate ambition of the UK’s carbon pricing policy while protecting the competitiveness of UK businesses.
The UK ETS applies to energy-intensive industries, power generation, and aviation sectors. From 2022 free allocation will be allocated on or before 28 February of each year. The deadline for submitting verified Activity Level Data Reports will be the 31 March of each year. Operators with eligible installations who applied for free allowances for 2021-2025 and UK ETS new entrants will be granted free allowances by the UK ETS authority.
